The Balance Between Business and Soul

Updated: May 11, 2021

Are you doing what feeds your soul? CLCI alumni Sheryl Cattell discusses with us how she transitioned from a career in digital marketing to help people create their personal legend.

Often times, we know what we want to do or be. We want to be Certified Life Coaches. We want to make lots of money. We want to be successful. We want love, friendship, and good company.

But, why do we want to? What is causing us to want more than just to meet our basic physical needs?

It is because we as humans have a soul. Now you don't have to be spiritual or religious to know that we all have souls, we just have to agree to a common definition:

Our soul is emotion, mind, and will. All of which need their fill.

Today Lisa Finck (C.P.C., A.C.C.), Brooke Adair Walters (M.C.L.C., C.P.C), and Jerome LeDuff Jr (M.C.L.C.) talk with Sheryl Cattell of Personal Legend Coaching about her journey from 30 years of experience in digital marketing to starting her life coach business. During her career, Sheryl knew deep down that there was more to life than just making money. What she liked about her job was that she could help people. Encouraging employees and the people around her showed her that there was something better out there.

So she took our Level 1 course and started Personal Legend Coaching.

In her own words, "I would rather change people's lives than change their websites".

In our talk, we touch on topics about how she found her clientele, how she provides value through writing articles, and how she builds professional trust.

But the most important question arises that is the thread throughout our whole conversation.

How do you balance soul and business?

There is a conundrum that many new coaches and humans in general face. How do we follow our passion but also pay the bills? We have all seen this person before. The person whose career is their entire identity. Success in business has come at a cost though; it drained their emotions, consumed their peace of mind, and diminished their will.

But we also know we can't throw caution to the wind, we need the stable foundation that money provides. And on this foundation, we can then build the life we want and tend to our soul.

It's all about balance. And through our discussion with Sheryl we achieve that balance when we know that you are already enough and have value.

Be confident and charge what you are worth. From the moment you start you will become a better coach as you continue your practice and grow a client base. Sheryl herself coaches distracted and overwhelmed high achievers because she knows that her potential clients really do need her. As coaches, you know that your clients do need you, and when people see that you are earnest, dedicated, and professional, it will show in your success.

Thank you,

Sheryl Cattell, Lisa Finck, Brooke Adair Walters, and Jerome LeDuff Jr.
