Certified Life Coach Institute is announcing today its plans to change the name of its Level 1 & Level 2 class to Coaching 101: Certified Life Coach and Coaching 102: Master Certified Life Coach.
The new class names will reflect the changes in the ICF's credentialing process and are more intuitive for students who wish to earn their ACC, PCC, and MCC credentials.
The Why

The ICF has announced accreditation updates that are intended to create greater quality of education and equitable opportunities for both coach practitioners and coaching education providers.
The updates also align with current leading practices in education and accreditation, which will bring greater credibility and congruence to all education providers.
The New Accreditation Structure
An updated accreditation structure will replace both ACTP and ACSTH pathways with levels tied to ICF Credentialing pathways.
Level 1 Accreditation (formerly ACSTH) is for organizations that offer at least 60 contact learning hours, and it is designated as a pathway to the ACC credential.
Level 2 Accreditation (formerly ACTP) is for organizations that offer at least 125 contact learning hours, and it is designated as a pathway to the PCC credential.
Level 3 Accreditation, is for organizations that offer at least 75 advanced contact learning hours, and it is designated as a pathway to the MCC credential.
Under this new system, the Certified Life Coach Institute will be transitioning from ACSTH into a Level 1 Accreditation and will be changing the names of our classes to Coaching 101: Certified Life Coach and Coaching 102: Master Certified Life Coach in an effort to make our class structure clear, concise, and congruent with this new system.
The What
All future Level 1 classes will now be referred to as Coaching 101: Certified Life Coach. Students who complete Coaching 101:
Will still earn a certificate and digital badge that show they are a Certified Life Coach or a Certified Professional Coach.
Will still earn 32.8 contact learning hours towards any ICF credential.
All future Level 2 classes will now be referred to as Coaching 102: Master Certified Life Coach. Students who complete Coaching 102:
Will still earn a certificate and digital badge that show they are a Master Certified Life Coach or a Master Certified Professional Coach.
Will still earn 33 contact learning hours towards any ICF credential (65.8 contact learning hours if they have already taken Coaching 101).
Please note any and all hours completed at CLCI can be used towards any ICF credential to anyone using the portfolio path. And the ICF will be offering credentialing through the Portfolio Path for the foreseeable future, and have no plans to change this as a credentialing path.
All 3-day classes will still be completed virtually, and the curriculum shall remain the same. The only changes made will be the title of the classes.
The When
On December 1st, 2022, all future classes will reflect the name change, including class slides, books, and other related materials.
CLCI Class Name Change FAQ
I'm an alumni, does this mean I have to take these classes again?
No. All class curriculum is exactly the same and your eCert and badge will still be globally recognized.
I'm an alumni, do my ACSTH hours transfer over for ICF accreditation?
Yes. While schools will no longer offer ACSTH hours, anyone applying for an ICF credential will have the option to either apply using the new Level 1 pathway or the old ACSTH pathway, or as a portfolio pathway.
What does Coaching 101 and Coaching 102 stand for?
The naming convention is as follows:
[Subject] [Accreditation Level & Class Number, X-XX] [Certificate Earned]
Coaching 101: Certified Life Coach means you are taking a coaching class that is the first in a series of Level 1 accredited courses that earns you a Certified Life Coach certificate.
Coaching 102: Master Certified Life Coach means you are taking a coaching class that is the second in a series of Level 1 accredited courses that earns you a Master Certified Life Coach certificate.
Classes may be shorthanded as Coaching 101 or even COACH 101.
In the future, CLCI may offer classes in different subjects or even at different accreditation levels.
