 Certified Life Coach Institute
Digital Badging

LET YOUR CERTIFICATE ACTIVELY WORK FOR YOU

Digital badges are simple, trusted, and verified.

NOW INTRODUCING DIGITAL BADGES

Certified Life Coach Institute (CLCI) now offers digital badging to ALL past and future students! This brand new service is provided by our digital credential provider Credly.

Before, your Coaching 101: Certified Life Coach or Coaching 102: Master Certified Life Coach certificate was only in paper or PDF form. While it's awesome to hold a tangible certificate in your hands, a piece of paper can only represent a fraction of the information a digital badge can.

Certified Life Coach? Master Certified Life Coach? ICF accredited? All of this information and what it actually means isn't readily available to potential clients and employers through paper certificates alone.

Now through digital badging you have concrete evidence of what a CLCI Alumni has to do in order to earn their certification, the date the certificate was earned, and what exclusive knowledge & skills you possess.

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) has gone digital and we wanted to make sure CLCI stayed on the cutting edge of coaching and offered our students the most value possible. So as you go on to earn your ACC, PCC, or MCC, all your credentials will remain on one intuitive platform.

Have clients on the fence or skeptical family members? Our badges will tell them in full detail what earners do to become certified and the standards CLCI aligns themselves to.

  • Why is it important to us that our graduates get the best training possible?
We know that life coaches have a direct effect on the lives of their clients and thus we ensure each of our students receive the best possible training. An armchair coach merely "guides and suggests"; a life coach will challenge their clients to go beyond their comfort zone, remove roadblocks such as fear, procrastination, perfectionism, and hold their clients accountable for remaining on the path to success. A great life coach can make a lifelong positive impact in the lives of their clients.
  • Who teaches the class?
All of our facilitators are successful practicing life coaches who hold a minimum accreditation of A.C.C. (Associate Coach Credential) through ICF, and all of them hold additional credentials as well. They are also thoroughly trained in the accredited curriculum and were hand-picked for their ability to teach, lead, support, motivate, and empathize. Though each teacher brings their own personality to the class, they are all teaching the same curriculum which ensures all of our students receive the same amazing education.
  • What will the classes be like?
All of our classes are 3-day, Friday-Sunday or Tuesday-Thursday, in-depth accredited life coach training experiences. You will have to prep for class and will recieve a packet when you sign up that will walk you through class-prep exercises. When you arrive you will check in, turn in the forms you need to and from there we begin. Here's a secret, you will begin life coaching within the first few couple hours of class. The classes are comprised of a skill-building hands-on process while incorporating core-competency and the Code of Ethics. The many people that attend our course tell us it is life changing for them personally. On the last day, after our final expression of skill building in the coaching model, we get "into" marketing and discussing who you will be or could be and who you are thinking of targeting, down to the nuts and bolts of the business. By the end of class you will recieve your life coaching certificate and graduate as with a ICF accredited life coach certification.
  • Do we learn anything else in addition to life coaching?
Yes! At CLCI, you not only get life changing teachings from our amazing instructor, we also highlight marketing and starting your own life coaching business. Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative, and supportive process based on an observed or recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies. • How is the Mentor Coaching Program structured?
Mentor Coaching is 10 hours of coaching taking place over a 14-15 week period. Mentor Coaching sessions are split between group sessions and One:One sessions where the Mentor Coach will: Observe recorded coaching sessions. Provide feedback to observed sessions. Offer feedback that is relevant to each specific coaching core competency, recognizing strengths as well as potential growth areas. Create a safe and trusting space for the delivery of feedback, using a respectful, clear, judgment free tone. Articulate with specific detail and examples, what is being observed, and the specific development needed to move to the next skill level, delivered with sensitivity to the impact of the feedback. Sessions are as follows: All Mentees MUST attend the 4 group sessions as scheduled by the Mentor. One:One sessions are flexible and are scheduled by the Mentee within a given date range.
  • What happens if I fail my Performance Evaluation?
If a participant does not pass their evaluation, they will be notified and the full assessment results will be shared as a document. This document will include observed strengths, areas for development, and what core competencies were/were not observed. These results will be your guide on what you should focus on to improve your coaching skills and what you should include in your retake submission. Retake Submission CLCI offers a retake process for applicants who do not pass their initial performance evaluation. Participants can submit a new recording and transcript without having to reapply. To submit a retake submission, participants must do so within six months from the date they received their initial results. The fee to process this additional recording and transcript is a non-refundable $250. Should the participant continue to fail their performance evaluations, they may continue the retake process indefinitely. CLCI highly recommends participants check in with a mentor coach to review their calls to ensure a passing submission.
  • Refund policy
There are no refunds for applicants who pay their initial fee or and fee for the retake process.

  • What is a Performance Evaluation?
The Performance Evaluation is part of the ICF Credentialing process and is the final step of Certified Life Coach Institute's Level 1 Program. Participants will submit a recorded coaching session and transcript to be reviewed by a CLCI assessor to ensure that the participant's coaching session is aligned with ICF's Core Competencies and meets the coaching skill requirements of an ACC level coach.
  • Does the ICF require a Performance Evaluation?
If you intend on applying for an ICF then yes! If not, then a performance evaluation is not required, but is still a great tool in making sure your coaching sessions are of the highest quality that meet ACC standards. Initial Credentialing Credentialing candidates are required to pass a performance evaluation of a recorded coaching session + transcript with a client The recorded session must last between 25-35 minutes and MUST be with a regular client who has hired you as a coach and not in any other capacity. ACC Renewal Coaches who are renewing their ACC credential are NOT required to submit a performance evaluation.
  • How do I submit a recorded session?
After an applicant submits the initial application and pays the application fee, their certifications will be reviewed, and their coaching log will be audited. Once our staff has completed this audit, the applicant will be sent a link to where they can upload both the recorded session and transcript. A full guideline for the submission call can be found here: To summarize... Session Guidelines: The performance evaluation must be a complete coaching session (not edited) lasting between 25 and 35 minutes. The performance evaluation must be from an actual coaching session between you and a paid or pro bono client (not part of coach training). The client may not be a coach unless they are a regular client. The recording must include the client verbally consenting to being recorded and having the coaching session shared with CLCI for review. Audio Guidelines: The recording must be a single audio only file (no video) - MP3, WMA, MP4 or M4A (audio) format. Other formats will not be accepted. The audio file must be 95 megabytes or fewer. Use a lower bit rate to decrease file size, if needed. You must upload the actual audio file. Providing a URL to download or stream audio recordings will not be accepted. Transcript Guidelines: Transcript must be a verbatim, written word-for-word record of the coaching session submitted. Transcript must indicate who is speaking—the coach or the client—at any time in the conversation. List the coach’s statements and the client’s statements on separate lines of the transcript. Transcript must include timestamps at every change in speaker (coach and client). Transcript must be submitted as a (.pdf, .doc, .docx) file. No other file formats will be accepted. When naming your file, ensure that you use only letters and numbers. Please be sure there are no special characters in your document name (ie. ? / | \ ! @ # = $ % +) in order to avoid issues when uploading your file.
  • How do I know I'm ready for a Performance Evaluation?
The best way to prepare for a performance evaluation is having your recording reviewed by your mentor coach! 10 hours of mentor coaching is a prerequisite for an evaluation, and the purpose of mentor coaching is to review your recorded sessions and to coach you on how to improve your skills. *Your mentor coach can review a recorded submission you want to submit and give you critical feedback on whether the recording might pass an evaluation. *Important note - While a mentor coach is an ICF credentialed coach, this does not guarantee that their approval or review of the recorded session will result in it becoming a passing evaluation. Assessors are trained specifically to review performance evaluations and may observe things in the coaching session that were not observed by the mentor coach. In either case of a Pass/No Pass, CLCI will send the assessment results along with feedback for the applicant.
